Pranab praises Mamata's
performance as Rly minister

Kolkata : Union Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee today heaped praises on Mamata Banerjee for her performance as Railway minister and assured her his full cooperation in taking the railways forward.

"To the Railway minister, I say, she has my blessings.

Let her go ahead. Because, if the railways move forward, the entire country will move forward," Mukherjee said at the flagging off ceremony of two express trains at the Sealdah station here.

Describing the railways as the lifeline of the country's economy, Mukherjee said, "as the country's Finance minister, I will be interested in the functioning of the railways as it is a pillar of the economy. I will always be interested in the progress of the railways."

Mukherjee said that when Banerjee announced projects while placing the Railway Budget in Parliament, many were in doubt whether the promises would be fulfilled.
