Boy thrown out of train fails to identify culprit

MUZAFFARPUR/PATNA : Railway SP, Muzaffarpur, Amit Lodha is trying again to arrange another TI (test identification) parade of seven railway protection special force (RPSF) personnel and a head constable of RPF at the S K Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, on Saturday evening to enable the injured boy, Shahabuddin, to identify the real culprit who threw him out of a running train near Kurhani on Friday.

The RPSF men were on duty on the running train when the incident occurred. Lodha said that the injured boy was unable to properly open his eyes on Friday evening when the first attempt was made for the identification of the culprit. He informed that he has recommended to the railway administration to take steps to meet the expenses of the boy's medical treatment as also to reward one Meena Devi, an Asha worker of Meenapur block, who provided first aid and made
arrangements for shifting the critically injured boy to the SKMCH.

The boy's left leg has been amputated and the RPSF and GRP personnel have donated blood to him. Rotary Amrapali and some other organizations have come forward to donate for meeting immediate cost of medicines required for the boy's treatment. The boy revealed that a fat person in police uniform, who sported a black cap, had thrown him out of the train while some other policemen simply looked on.

Meanwhile, RPF senior divisional security commissioner Maheshwar Singh on Friday said that the railways have taken the matter seriously and a through investigation was being carried out to unravel the truth behind the incident. He, however, said that the railways held a TI parade of all the suspects at the SKMCH late on Thursday evening before the boy. Unfortunately, the boy could not identify the real culprit, he said.

The RPF security commissioner said that the boy's family members, GRP inspector Shashi Bhushan, RPF inspector Amit Gunjan and SRP Amit Lodha were also present during the parade of the suspects on Thursday evening. In fact, the suspects were produced before the boy several times so that he could muster courage to identify the real culprit, he said. Singh said that the railways would not hesitate in taking stern action against the guilty person if his involvement is proved in the case.
