DMU bogie exclusively for women
Jammu : In a bid to ensure safe journey for the female fraternity, the Railways authorities have decided to introduce an additional bogie exclusively for the fairer sex in the Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) running from Pathankot to Udhampur and vice versa.
"Following certain complaints related to the hardships women were facing during journey in DMU, a supplementary bogie will soon be introduced, in which entry of men will completely be restricted," a senior Railway official told UNI.
The official added special security personnel would also be deployed in the train to keep check on the anti-social elements besides men occupying seats in women bogie.
"Entry for men will be restricted in the bogie as it will exclusively be reserved for the women," the official said, adding that anybody violating the norms, would be fined or punished accordingly.
