Bye-bye to delays at Thane stn due to crossovers

MUMBAI : As per the information given by the Central Railway (CR) sources, the commissioning of the 5-6 lines will put an end to delays to fast local services at Thane

Presently, platform number 5-6 servicing the mail express trains and suburban fast trains can accommodate 14 coach outstation trains. Many a times these 24-coach trains halt twice at the stations and cause bunching of trains behind them.

This also leads to traffic disruption on the line. While at times such trains when diverted to platform 7 also cause equal disturbances on both the Up and Down fast lines as the there is a speed restriction while crossing the tracks.
Commuters lamented that whenever out-station trains halting at Thane were diverted on platform 7, the subsequent trains were affected.

"The crossing over of trains to platform number 7 takes a lot of time because of speed restrictions thereby leading to like bunching of trains on the fast lines," lamented a commuter.

"However, once implemented long distance trains won't be using the fast tracks and this would largely benefit the locals as they wont be bunched because of the crossing over," informed an official.
