Railway Budget 2009-2010

The interim budget was presented by former minister Lalu Prasad. It was
improper on his part to have presented an interim budget as if it was the
regular budget. One thing must be understood is that the Railway Board is an
institution which carries on its work irrespective of who the minister in
charge is there are well established procedures laid out and the minister
only gives a policy direction. The new rail minister will be well within
his/her right to present the regular railway budget which may not be in
conjunction with some of the policies announced in the interim budget. in
comparison the interim Finance budget is a proper interim budget. People
likee Lalu always want to gain political mileage out of such an exercise.

Mumbai to Nagpur in 3 Hrs....

The reason for sounding skeptical is, we have heard this in press, so many
times. Earlier it was Pune-Ahmedabad now it's Mumbai-Nagpur.

See, the thing is, the state of Maharashtra going to elections this
September/October, and not Gujarat. So Pune-Ahmedabad would be pointless and
you cannot try to win over much of Maharashtra with that little scam. So
Mumbai to Nagpur it is!

I'd love to see such a high speed system come up. And if it is cheaper than
an airline, the project might just be feasible, considering the traffic that
flows between Mumbai and Pune and Nagpur.

But I do not see why the government should put money into it. If it is so
feasible, let private parties invest with the intent to earn profits.

Wait till the elections are over. Talk of the train, corridor and everything
else will vanish as rapidly as a train at 300 kph.
