CENTRAL RAILWAY COMES DOWN

HEAVILY ON TICKETLESS TRAVELLERS

MUMBAI : Central Railway has always been persistent in curbing ticketless / unauthorised travel through its massive checking drives। In these drives, 1.05 lakh cases of ticketless / irregular travel including unbooked luggage have been detected during March 2009 as against 0.96 lakh cases detected in March 2008. Amount realised from these cases in March 2009 is Rs. 3.41 crore as against Rs. 2.82 crore during the corresponding period last year, thus showing an increase of 20.92 %.

A total of 13.08 lakh cases were detected in the financial year 2008 - 09 as against 12.12 lakh cases detected in the previous financial year. The Amount realised from these cases during the current year is Rs. 43.30 crore as against Rs. 36.86 crore during last year, thus showing an increase of 17.38%.

Central Railway's Annual Railway Board's target for the year 2008 -09 was Rs. 38.99 crore in respect of earning and 12.79 lakh in respect of cases. Surpassing the target Central Railways actual Performance is Rs. 43.30 crore and 13.08 lakh in respect of earnings and cases respectively which shows an increase of 11.00% and 2.27% in respect of earnings and cases over target.

200 cases of transfer of reserved tickets were also detected during the month of March 2009 and an amount of Rs 1.22 lakh realised besides confiscation of tickets worth Rs. 81 thousand.

Central Railway appeals to the passengers to travel with proper and valid tickets in order to avoid inconvenience.

AUGMENTATION OF MAIL / EXPRESS TRAINS

Central Railway has decided to augment following Mail/Express trains during summer rush with immediate effect for the benefit of passengers as under -

1. 2137/2138 Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - Ferozpur Punjab Mail with One additional Air Conditioned 3 Tier coach up to 10.06.2009 ex Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and up to 12.06.2009 ex Ferozpur.

2. 2114/2113 Nagpur - Pune Express with Two Air Conditioned 3 Tier coach up to 21.6.2009 on every Tuesday, Friday & Sunday ex Nagpur and up to 22.6.2009 on every Monday, Wednesday & Saturday ex Pune.

3. 2051/2052 Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - Madgaon Janshatabdi Express with One Air Conditioned Chair Car coach and Two Second Seating Coach up to 10.6.2009.

4. 2105/2106 Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - Gondia Vidharbh Express with One Air Conditioned 2 Tier cum Air Conditioned 3 Tier Coach up to 15.6.2009 ex Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and up to 16.6.2009 ex Gondia.

Waitlisted passengers of above trains are requested to check-up their PNR status before boarding the train.

BOOKING FOR TEACHERS' SPECIAL TRAINS

As already announced Train No. 0125 Dn Dadar (T) - Varanasi Holiday special leaving Dadar on 2.5.2009 & 3.5.2009 and Train No. 0126 Up Varanasi - Dadar (T) leaving Varanasi on 10.6.2009 & 11.6.2009 have been earmarked as Teachers' special. However on the demand of Associations and Teachers' Union it has been decided to run these teachers' special trains via Allahabad, Jhangai, Bhadohi instead of Chheoki, Mughalsarai Chord on the above dates.

Due to this diversion the train No. 0125-S Dadar(T) -Varanasi teachers' special will reach Varanasi at 05.20 hrs instead of 03.30 hrs (no change in departure timing from Dadar). The train No. 0126-S Varanasi - Dadar (T) teachers' special will leave Varanasi at 07.50 hrs instead of 10.25 hrs (no change in arrival timing at Dadar). There will be no change in the existing timings of these specials between Dadar (T) and Satna.

All the accommodation including seats in the general coaches will also be reserved. The train numbers for the Teacher's Special will be 0125-S Dadar - Varanasi and 0126-S Varanasi - Dadar Teacher's Special.

The booking in Outward and Return direction Teacher's Special trains will be done on 26.4.2009 at CST Mumbai Reservation office from 2.30 pm to 10.00 pm.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR BOOKING IN TEACHERS' SPECIALS

1. The reservation will be allowed only on the basis of photo identity cards issued by the schools in which particulars such as Name of the school, Staff number, Designation etc. indicated.

2. Verification of family members will be done on the basis of Ration Card / Medical Card / Identity Card.

3. Allotment of Token Numbers on the requisition forms will start on 26.4.2009 (Sunday) at 9.00 am in the barricades provided for normal reservation activity at CST Mumbai. The queue of general passengers will be shifted to outside the barricade on the day of reservation for Teachers' special. The numbering and verification will be done just at the entrance of the barricade..

4. Reservation for Outward Journey and Return Journey will be done on 26.4.2009 (Sunday) at CST Mumbai only. The Booking will start from 2.30 pm to 10.00 pm.

5. Separate queue will be maintained for lady teachers, handicapped teachers and others.
