Is Railway Staff College producing
high potential officers or theorists?

Director General of Railway Staff College, Vadodara should do a through analysis of the training program offered currently and prepare the Railway Officers to become smart, sharp and dynamic. More emphasis should be placed on interpersonal skills and communication skills. Railway Board members should do an audit of the training Courses offers of Railway Staff College and judge the viability of the training courses.

According to some railway insiders, Running training institute requires creativity, questioning the status quo, cultivate fresh thinking and empowering people to bring new changes. Present DG/RSC Mr. C. P. Verma rarely takes new approaches. Sh. C. P. Verma is a typical bureaucrat loves draconian rules.

Where as Railway Staff College is one of the finest training institute in India. People at the Railway Board and Railway Ministry should ask a question. Do we have a capable person running the Railway Staff College? It's time we bring change.

Comments

a) Yes there are some bright spots in the training college for example IIM Calcutta signed the MOU with Railway Board of India to offer 18 month training in following topics including economics, human resource management, management information systems, public policy, behavioural sciences, operations management, marketing, ethics, finance and accounting and strategic management

b) Training should be ongoing practice. People are the intellectual assets and they can tranform the face of the Indian Railways.

c) I was looking to read message of Director General of Railway Staff College. There is no message from the Director General. It's a real shame.

d) Railway Staff College can save money in fixed cost, salary, pension and benefits by outsourcing training small and basic courses. ( for example IT related and basic computer courses ecommerce and webdesign). Promote elearning and distance learning methods to train railway officers ( CD, MP3 formats and online programmes) who cannot travel.
