DRM's Inspection at Begumpet

It was on last Saturday at around 1630 hours. I had to go to Begumpet to attend to some work by an MMTS local from Hafizpet. The train was running very much on time and took a mere 15 -17 minutes to cover the HFZ-BMT stretch. (12 km).

No sooner the train arrived on PF-1 of BMT, I spotted an entire army of RPF personnel on the platform. They were busy evicting all the menfolk from the ladies compartment and checking out the FC coaches too. The larger public in Hyderabad ( at times the educated ones too) still can't distinguish between Ladies and General coaches and board the former without a thought.

So these "illegal" travellers were rounded up by a bunch of TC's and by RPF men and I assume were fined accordingly. There were over a dozen TC's at the station all busy checking valid travellers on the PF and resorting to fining the unauthorised ones. Most times there is just the 1 Gate TC at BMT whom I know as well. Same was the scene on PF-2 as well.

A casual enquiry from a RPF jawan proved that the DRM was around inspecting BMT's premises and hence the frenzy of activity.

My question is why do these sweeping checks have to be carried out only when a top official is around. Aren't regular checks ought to be carried out so that the travelling public is more aware of the rules . I am sure most of the menfolk in the ladies coach must be in for a rude shock when they were caught by the RPF !!
