WR's RECORD FREIGHT LOADING

Shri R.N. Verma, General Manager, Western Railway stated that WR has registered freight loading of 5.03 million tonnes for the month of December, 2008 as against 3.79 million tonnes for December, 2007, thereby registering an increase of 32 per cent. Freight earnings of Rs 444.63 crore have been registered, recording an increase of 59.16 per cent as compared to previous year's Rs 279.36 crore. 2770 Wagons were loaded per day in December, 2008 against 2228 Wagons per day for December, 2007. Major commodities such as Mineral Oil, Fertilizers and imported coal have also shown substantial increase in traffic.
