Wrong declaration of weight than
compared to the actual weight

Respected Sir,
Firstly, my heartfelt congratulations for the phenomenal piece of work you are involved with. We take this opportunity to stand with you to eradicate the root cause of corruption and look forward to witness the clear system with healthy environment of working conditions.
We as the proud business associate with Concor, authority of Indian railway, for more than three decade will want to bring to your kind attention about the major lag where Container Corporation of India is being continuously affected. The problem being the wrong declaration of weight than compared to the actual weight.
We would regard this as pretentious, if we have to explain the working behind the cargo movement carried out by Indian railways through wagon or Container Corporation of India, where the involvement of Containers come into play, but regardless of this fact, we would want to highlight the only lag Indian railways is facing. For instance, the Indian railways has assigned strict weight slabs for the Concor for their operation, which varies from 40MT per wagon – 52MT per wagon – 62MT per wagon, which includes the weight of the container ( considering to be around 2.5MT).
The manipulation happens in such a way that even the ‘INWAY MOTION WEIGH BRIDGE’ fails to identify the misdeclared weight of the container. When the wagon ( which carries two containers) weighs about 62MT on the weigh bridge, the manipulation involved will come to your knowledge as a shock. One of the two container declared to be containing 17.5MT would actually carry about 32MT and the second container declared 23MT would weigh correctly, resulting in total of 56MT approximately, and on addition of the container weight (2 Nos.), the wagon would weigh about 62MT on the scale.  This is also overlooked because the Concor authority fails to cross verify the Railway receipt of the container which has the declared weight, be it false or correct to the physical weight of the respective containers. The 17.5MT slab was introduced by the Indian Railways to Concor and all other private operators across India, for loading of light weight material, instead this is being misused by the Business Associates from all the sectors for their baseless and unhealthy competition.
The reason behind this complaint should be treated as awareness to your good self about the unhealthy competition happening all around the sectors in India. This is not only increasing the corruption but also provoking the Business Associates to choose the wrong and the easy way. On the other hand, to justify this statement, we request you to pull out the data’s of last three months and compare the number of containers being declared as 17.5MT to the past history. As a Business Associate we suggest that the 17.5MT slab should be strictly prohibited to stop such kind of baseless and unhealthy competition and help us all improve in the better perspective. Kindly take necessary action against the same. Should you require any further clarifications, kindly feel free to revert back to us. Hoping to hear positive from you.
Thanking you
Sincerely,
A Reader
From Chennai
