CR to run 1,512 Summer Special trains
Mumbai : Tuesday, Feb 24 2009 Central Railway (CR) has decided to run 1,512 summer special trains, highest ever by any railway, to 27 destinations from April. Addressing mediapersons here today, CR Chief Public Relation Officer Shrinivas Mudgerikar said, ''Considering the demand of passengers we have decided to run 1,512 special trains to 27 destinations as compared to previous year's 818 trains to 17 destination.'' Hesaid they will also run inter-state trains to clear the heavy rush during the summer vacation. The highest number of special trains would be run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and Karwar 130, followed by Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Gorakhpur 202, Latur and Pandharpur 178, Dadar and Varanasi 174,Pune and Solapur 104, CST and Nagpur 76 and others destinations, Mr Mundgekar said. The reservation of these trains will commence from February 27, he said adding that additional windows would be opened for the reservation and that people canget a token one day prior to the reservation day. Some trains with unreservedbogies will also run between CST and Gorakhpur, he added. And now, CR has announced 1512 Spltrains for Holiday/Summer Rush! The interesting ones (besides the regular Mumbai-Varanasi /Gorakhpur) are Mumbai-Latur/Mumbai-Pandharpur! WR has announced 392 summer spls.
