'Biraadariwaad in Railways'

Biraadariwaad in Railways

By now, it is a well known fact that the 'Biraadari' Lobby is ruling the Railways for the last many years. i.e. how the present CRB has come to occupy this post by-passing many other eligible, efficient, sincere and honest officers. But it is very little known outside the Railways that this person promotes only 'Biraadari' Officers as far as practicable. Perhaps, this explains the undue influence of person called Director/TT/G in the operating Branch of the Railway Board. Otherwise, there is no reason why Director/TT/G with very little experience of operations dictates terms to many knowledgeable, efficient & honest traffic officers all over the Indian Railways. It is worth mentioning here that Director/TT/G has been Sr. DOM only for a year & few months in South Eastern Railway but due to his caste equation and proximity with the present CRB/MT, he not only influences important policy matters of the traffic branch but also routinely harms the career interest of large number of young dynamic and upright traffic officers all over the Indian Railways. A bright example of this extra-legal influence and vile use of malicious power is the recent transfer of two JA Grade officers of ECR to NFR. These two officers, namely, Shri Vibhuti Gupta & Shri Aashis Kumar had the misfortune of falling in the bad books of Director/TT/G who behaves and acts as if he is the MT himself. Unfortunately, some senior officers at the board have fuelled this nasty habit of "Chugalkhori" in Director/TT/G by blindly believing in all the cock & bull stories & canards spread by Director/TT/G against officers in the field.

An interesting fall out of the extra constitutional acquisition of power by this man is the recent restoration of Shri B. K. Joshi into the post of CFTM of East Coast Railway. It is worth recalling here that Shri Joshi had created a lot of furor among the customers, officers and staff of South Eastern Railway during 2004-05 in his tenure as CFTM due to his thoroughly arrogant attitude and corrupt ways. All this had invited so much opprobrium that his partner and boss, the then COM of S. E. Railway was immediately transferred to NFR and Shri Joshi was handed down charge sheet after thorough enquiries. Again last year around this time when Sri B. K Joshi was appointed as CFTM, East Coast Railway, he was shunted out within a month of his appointment due to large scale protest from the customer and vigilance department. But amusingly, within less than a years time the same person has been made CFTM, thanks to the efforts of his good friend Director/TT/G and his own capability to maneuver with use of contacts and money power. It was widely known in the old South Eastern Railway how Shri Joshi was regularly paying the pervious minister relatives huge amounts of bribe from his ill-gotten wealth. Hence, it is not surprising that Shri Sanjay Mohanty, was displaced from the post of CFTM, East Coast Railway in spite of having a relatively clean track record by Shri Joshi with the most shoddy and corrupt background.
