SAVE INDIAN RAILWAYS

CALL TO 14 LAKH RAILWAY FAMILY

Dear All Railway Friends, Officers and Employees, I am honored to have covered Indian Railways as journalist for past 20 years. "Railway Samachar" will also complete 15 years soon. In writing thousands of articles and speaking to even more of you I have shared your joy and even more your pain. Now I have reached the point where problems of Railways are so big, it is my responsibility not only to write but also to ACT.

I will be going on indifinite hunger fast from May 23 in Jantar-Mantar, New Delhi. And, I will be taking along with me A LIST OF DEMANDS of changes needed to SAVE RAILWAYS.

I am using all the knowledge I have gathered to think of all the biggest problems hurting Railways since independence, and their solutions.

But, I need your help. THIS IS A ONE-TIME OPPORTUNITY. What are the problems that bother your department or Indian Railways as a whole? Tell me. Tell us. Let us discuss it. SPEAK UP NOW or forever hold your peace. What are THE PROBLEMS and what is THEIR SOLUTION? Don’t just say corruption or revenue leakage.. Let us talk in detail..

And, let us talk about solutions. Technology, Administration, Cadre-problems, whatever the issue, let’s come together to list the most important ones as well as suggest their solutions. IF YOUR IDEA HAS MERIT, IT WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE DEMANDS. I am working on revenue leakage in Traffic Department. I am thinking about the corruption in Procurement and in Works Contracts. I am examining our faulty PPP policies. I am thinking about the GRP problem.

Of course, I am especially looking at transfers and postings, bypassing elligible & honest officers and how it is that national treasure Vivek Sahai could become MT and CRB when 4 vigilance cases were and are still pending against him. You may tell me more about these problems.

But, do tell me about other problems I do not know. It is time to stop and think. SOON IT WILL BE TIME TO ACT.

Your ideas will be uploaded to http://saveindianrailways.blogspot.com . You may discuss ideas at the blog, call me on phone, or email me at railwaysamachar@gmail.com . After we discuss ideas, we will create a DRAFT AGENDA. Then we will further ask for suggestions or any objections to the agenda. When everyone is satisfied, I will take the AGENDA and the possible SOLUTIONS and sit on dharna. This is what I have decided to do for Railways.

I know many of you secretly would love to join me. And do join me, to HELP ME CREATE A COMPLETE LIST OF DEMANDS to solve Railway problems.

We need to keep Railways healthy! It’s our national life-line! And you should work with hope and dignity!

Rgds.

Railways were first introduced to India in 1853. By 1947, the year of India's independence, there were forty-two rail systems. In 1951 the systems were nationalised as one unit, becoming one of the largest networks in the world.
